See anyone you know? HIM's Straight Talk breakfast, May 18, with @Compassion president Wess Stafford (photos)

We had a great turn out on this past Monday, May 18, for breakfast and a time of informal Q&A with Compassion International president Wess Stafford. Wess shared some heart-wrenching personal stories, including his moment at 9 years old discovering his “destiny” to speak for and protect children who cannot speak for themselves.

A special note about the last photo: These are just some of the 50 Hawaii pastors who traveled with HIM to visit Compassion sites in the Philippines. Their churches and church members have together sponsored more than 2500 children and 20 Leadership Development Program (college students) in the last two years. Praise God for them!

We would love to hear your stories about HIM and Compassion, and God’s blessings in them. As always, email your stories to: yourstories@himonline.org

*We’ll soon upload to the HIM website the audio recording of Wess’ conversation with HIM co-founder Dan Chun. Check back at the HIM website soon. [http://himonline.org] You may also buy a CD by calling the HIM office at 808-988-9777.

Nick Vujicic at Honolulu 2009

What a privilege to host him at Honolulu 2009. Nick is an outstanding spokesman for Jesus Christ. He calls himself a “visual aid,” but he is much more than that — he is an inspiration. Thank you to the Waterhouse Lecture Series for sponsoring Nick’s participation.

Honolulu 2009: A Word from Pastor Jim Miller

From Pastor Jim Miller, one of our Honolulu 2009 speakers, formerly a pastor in Hawaii and now senior pastor of Glenkirk Presbyterian Church in Glendora, CA:

Another great conference this year.  It reminded me of my back lawn, which I effectively killed off in the heat of the summer.  When it rained heavily the last few weeks, my lawn came back.  HIM always brings my lawn back.

Thank you, Jim! You are a gifted teacher. We love teaming with you.

See Dave the Horn Guy on video here, and see him live at Honolulu 2009 this weekend!

Dave the Horn Guy and his buddy illusionist Danny Ray will offer good, clean fun, laughs and sleights of hand for our Honolulu 2009 youth this week at Honolulu 2009. They’re great guys with big hearts for God, as well as theology training. How about that?!
